I hope that you are all enjoying the summer break and having time to spend with each other. The school year is such a busy time, with so much for everyone to do. So, if you can, take these opportunities to do things together with your family and friends.
In my previous summer mailers, I have had lots of construction and programmatic information to share with you. This summer, there are no changes from last year. Our big changes this year involve our administrative staff. Since my letter last summer, Fremont had two assistant principals get promotions and depart our school. While these new positions were well deserved, we were sad to see them go and it created lots of juggling for staff last year.
This year, our team looks to be quite strong with our changes and our two new additions. Changed from last year, Noe Ochoa has moved from his role as a Dean of Students to become one of our assistant principals. He served in this role on an interim basis last school year and was awarded the position officially for next school year. Filling in for the departures on our team, Fremont will have two new administrators. Susan Rocha will fill in our remaining assistant principal opening. She comes to us from Cupertino High School where she has worked for the past 20 years as an English teacher. In the open Dean of Students, Sydney Fernandez will be moving from Ralston Middle School to join the Fremont team. For the past 8 years, Mrs. Fernandez has been teaching English and ELD. We are so excited to have both of these esteemed educators joining the Fremont team.
This year we will send out our summer packet via Chalk Schools. Through this link, you will be able to access all documents that include information about the school map, school policies, ASB Card and Yearbook, Bus Passes, Hot Lunch Program, Locker Policy and Procedures PE, sports, and student parking. We understand that we may have some parents and guardians who do not have an email address, please refer to our FHS website (www.fhs.fuhsd.org) by selecting the ‘Our School’ link at the top of the web page and then the sub-link of ‘2016-17 Start of School Information. This year, we will continue to send communications though ChalkSchools. With this basic tool we can send 2-way digital forms and communications directly to your email (information can be viewed or signed and returned electronically if needed). You will not need a login, but will be sent a link or pdf’s directly to your email. This tool helps to quickly deliver and receive information and it will also dramatically decrease mailing and paper costs, which enables us to be good stewards of our resources.
Within the next week, you will be sent additional information for Registration Days on August 8th & 9th via Chalk Schools.
I look forward to another productive and successful school year. Thinking ahead to the fall, I want to make sure that you have two important dates on your calendars: Monday, August 15 is the first day of school and Thursday, September 15 will be Back-to-School-Night.
