Please join us at our first PTSA meeting on Thursday, Sep. 11th, 7 PM in the Library.  You will enjoy our feature seminar 'College for Parents' by Don Mackenzie.  Spanish translation will be available!  No matter whether or not you have a senior or freshman student, you will find the information very helpful.  Please turn in your PTSA Membership form and Volunteer survey to the office.  Together, we can make a difference for our school! Become a National Honor Society member! Be a tutor for the Students for Success Club! You could earn prestigious honors and serve your school community at the same time. Find out what NHS can offer you and how to apply; please attend our information meeting on Thursday, Sept. 11th, at lunch time at the Main Auditorium. (J. Darwish)

Calling all Lakewood Alumni! Lakewood teachers are in need of volunteers for their upcoming events and programs and would love for you to help out. See the career center for details. (C. Madruga)

Express Yourself! The PTSA's Reflections Program is accepting entries in literature, visual arts, music, dance, TV/film or Photography, based on the the theme "Wow!" Deadline is Friday, October 17. See your lit, art, music, dance, TV/film or photography club teacher for rules and entry forms. (M. Chan)

License to Speak, Fremont’s spoken word and poetry club will have its first meeting on Monday September 8th during lunch in room 44. If you have an interest in lyrics, poetry, slam poetry, hip hop, beat boxing... come to our meeting and let us hear your voice. Also, if you just like being around that scene, come hang out with us Monday in room 44 during lunch. (R. Zamora)

Attention all students: If you have any school forms that need to be turned in to the office, it's not too late! Please drop them off at Ms. Werling's desk in the main office. This includes all zero tolerance and bus pass/lunch forms, along with any others you are still holding. (J. Werling)

Attention all students: Please keep your ID cards and carry them with you at school everyday. The cards help to identify you as a Fremont student. Student ID cards are also required to use any library materials, including books and computers. (R. Zamora)

Attention all staff and students: If you have not taken your ID picture, the picture make-up date will be on Tuesday, September 23rd all day in the small gym. (M. Allmann)

Attention all students: NHS applications are out, please pick one up in the career center or from Ms. Ramirez in the library. Applications are due September 22. (D. Ramirez)

Attention all students: Opening day for Students For Success will be October 20, 2008. Students For Success Club is an after school peer tutoring program sponsored by FHS National Honor Society and PTSA. It is a service offered by the students for the students.  If you have any questions, please see Miss Ramirez in the library.

Attention student shoppers: The student store is open for business during lunch every day. In addition to our usual items, we have lots of school supplies available at really good prices. Shop early, and shop often. (A. Cardosi)

CAREER CENTER:

The Edge Prep will be teaching an SAT prep courses here at Fremont beginning October 30th from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, and continuing every Thursday until December 4th. Sign up in the career. (C. Madruga)

Students interested in medicine have the opportunity to explore the field at the Palo Alto Medical Clinic on the second and fourth Mondays of the month (Sept. and Oct). Guest speakers will be present to answer questions and talk about their experiences. See the career center for details. (C. Madruga)

Please visit Ms. Madruga in the career center and give her your email address. Updates and events that pertain to your class will then be sent to you!

Santa Clara County needs students to help run the polls for the presidential election on Tuesday, November 4th. Students 16 and over can sign up at www.sccvote.org or come to the career center for information. Stipends
offered for $130 (full day) or $82 (half day). (C. Madruga)

SENIORS :

Seniors, with college applications right around the corner, it is time to start writing those personal statement essays.  Sylvan Learning Center will be on campus on Friday, Sept. 26th at 8 AM for an essay writing workshop to help you with techniques and tips on how to improve your writing skills. Sign up in the career center. (C. Madruga)

Seniors need to complete their SAT and ACT testing by December in order to apply to college. The next SAT test registration deadline is September 9th. The next ACT registration deadline is September 19th.  Register now! (C. Madruga)
