Daily Bulletin/Announcements

November 2018

November 15, 2018

Firebirds – Because of the poor air quality we want to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff. Everyone should remain indoors during instruction time, as well as during lunch and break times. Classrooms and indoor spaces are available through during breaks so that students and staff limit their exposure to the air. Please find safe air in the small gym, large gym, cafeteria and library during brunch and lunch. We will be continuing limitations on physical education activities, which have been moved inside, and after school sporting events are cancelled today. Announcements will be made if sports teams will be meeting elsewhere today.

Please be sure to check our website for the bell schedule for next week. We have school Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week. There is not a late start on Wednesday, class begins at 8:00! We do not have school on Thursday or Friday to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.

The annual Fremont Olympia games are coming up! Fremont Olympia is a year long event where classes battle each other in different games. Come to the large gym during lunch to support your class in the first game of dodgeball! To sign up talk to your class cabinet members. Freshman versus Sophomores on Monday, November 26th. Juniors versus Seniors on Wednesday, November 28th. The winners of the first two games play against each other in the final championship on Friday November 30th.

Want to make a difference for people that really need it? ASB is organizing two "Fremont Gives Back" opportunities this week. First, we're collecting any clothes you can donate to the victims of the fires near and around Paradise, CA. A box will be set up in Mr. Kakes' room (B209) this week, and they'll be hand-delivered on Saturday. Anything for kids, teens, or adults is needed. We also have a personal Fremont connection - Paradise is near Mrs. Michelet's hometown, and she knows several people who have lost everything in the fires, and she thanks you for your generosity. Second, it's right before Thanksgiving, so we'll be volunteering this Friday, November 16, as we distribute food to the needy. We'll be helping out at St. Martin of Tours parish near Valley Fair from 6pm to 8pm. November and December are their busiest times, so they can use all the help they can get. Sign up on the sheet in Mr. Kakes' room (B-209) so we can give them a headcount ahead of time. Get volunteer hours, and friends and family are welcome too.

Seniors: Do you need support with your college applications? If so, stop by tomorrow during flex to the cafeteria to get help from the guidance counselors. See you there.

Hey Firebirds! Are you looking for community service opportunities around the holidays? Look no more! Come by the College & Career Center to sign up for Breakfast with Santa happening on Saturday, December 8th at the Sunnyvale Senior Center. See Ms. Yanez for more information.

Bike riding is a lot of fun, but accidents happen. Every year, about 300,000 kids go to the emergency room because of bike injuries, and at least 10,000 students have injuries that require a few days in the hospital. Some of these injuries are so serious that people die, usually from head injuries. A head injury can mean brain injury. That's why it's so important to wear your bike helmet. Wearing one doesn't mean you can be reckless, but a helmet will provide some protection for your face, head, and brain in case you fall down.
