Incoming Students

Registration for next fall's 2024-25 school year will begin on January 29, 2024 and will be through the Online Registration tool (OLR). An email will be send out  to parents from Fremont High School District Residency. Check the FUHSD Enrollment webpage for more information.

• 9th Grade Electives

If a student is enrolling in a World Language course for the first time at FHS, he or she may need to take a diagnostic exam to ensure that he or she is enrolled in the correct level of that World Language program.  Please read the information for the language you want to study.

CHINESE 

All incoming new students or current Fremont students who are not enrolled in a Chinese class can take the diagnostic exam. If a student does not speak Chinese at home or has never learned Chinese before, the student does not need to take a diagnostic exam and can enroll in Chinese 1.  Native Chinese speakers or students that have studied Chinese in the past will need to take a diagnostic exam for proper placement. FRENCH               

Native French speakers or students that have studied French in the past will need to take a diagnostic exam for proper placement. If a student is enrolling in French 1 and the student does not speak French at home, the student does not need to take a diagnostic exam.  Students from Cupertino Middle School do not have to take a diagnostic exam. Students from Lawson Middle School are encouraged but not required to take a diagnostic exam.

The French diagnostic exam will be offered by appointment only. Please contact Janene Rich at janene_rich@fuhsd.org for an appointment.  

JAPANESE

Native Japanese speakers or students that have studied Japanese in the past will need to take a diagnostic exam for proper placement. If a student is enrolling in Japanese 1 and the student does not speak Japanese at home, the student does not need to take a diagnostic exam.  The Japanese diagnostic exam will be offered by appointment only. Please contact Erik Duus at erik_duus@fuhsd.org for an appointment.

SPANISH

Native Spanish speakers or students that have studied Spanish in the past will need to take a diagnostic exam for proper placement.  If a student is enrolling in Spanish 1 and the student does not speak Spanish at home, the student does not need to take a diagnostic exam. The students at Sunnyvale Middle School and Columbia Middle School that need a diagnostic exam will test at their school on the following dates. Please note that students from Cupertino Middle School do not need to take the diagnostic exam.  All other students, including those that missed the diagnostic exam at their middle school, need to test at Fremont High School.
