Please take a moment and think about those parents, teachers or staff members who make a big difference in making our FHS programs and youth programs thrive. Every year Service Awards are given by the PTSA to recognize these amazing volunteers, and we need your help to find deserving recipients. We are not only looking for PTSA volunteers but also volunteers from Athletic Boosters, sports programs, cheer, dance, speech and debate, robotics, other clubs and activities in our school community. There is always a person or two that seems to go that extra mile. Parents, if you are not sure, ask your kids! Students may nominate people, as well. Teachers and staff members are eligible for nomination if there has been service above and beyond what can be expected in the normal course of the job. Every contribution is worth recognizing, so please don't hesitate to nominate someone.

The County of Santa Clara Public Health Department’s STD/HIV Prevention & Control Program and the Project More Foundation are happy to announce the official launch of the 2020 Viral Video Contest this month. According to the CDC, 1 in 2 sexually active youth will get an STD by age 25 and most will not know it. This is an exciting opportunity for Santa Clara County high school students to address this staggering statistic by creating a short video (30-90 seconds) that addresses stigma around STDs and testing, encourages safe sexual practices, and promotes healthy relationships. Winning students will be awarded up to $1,500 for themselves and $500 for their high school. Submission deadline is March 1, 2020.
Please share this great opportunity with high school students taking classes in sexual health education, video production, animation, and theater. For more information and to see winning videos from previous years, go to GoViralSCC.org.
